Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use training cheques or other state subsidies?
Stanwick is the proud owner of the QFor-label. This Quality is acknowledged by the Flemish District and offers the opportunity for employers to use consultancy and training cheques.
Since 2009 the training cheques have been combined under the name "KMO portefeuille" (previously also called "BEA", Budget for Economical Advice). KMO stands for “Kleine en Middelgrote Ondernemingen” (in Dutch) or SME, “Small and Medium sized Enterprises”.
Definition and target group of the KMO/SME portefeuille:
KMO/SME portefeuille = "The electronic method of payment to finance knowledge transfer, mentoring of talented entrepreneurs: advice or training focused on coaching an entrepreneur or enterprise at any stage of their "life cycle".
Target group = Only KMOs/SMEs located in Flanders (the definition for KMO/SME is the same as the European Commission, with respect to employment, turnover and total balance sheet value).
From now on, KMOs/SMEs can receive financial support when working with Stanwick as a supplier for the following projects:

Can a Stanwick consultant also be a process facilitator?
"If someone else manages the process, you manage the content"
Stanwick enables groups to work more effectively together and creates synergy between people.
The facilitator is a “neutral party” who does not provide expert answers to questions. They create a certain openness that helps the constructive exchange of thoughts, ideas and opinions.
The facilitator organizes and steers the process of collecting the answers of all the individual participants. This way groups can act more effectively and make higher quality decisions.
The key mission of the Stanwick facilitator consists of:
- Providing structure and working context to the group
- Assuring that all voices are heard and understood
- Keeping focus and guiding the group along the chosen direction
- Identifying obstacles
- Enabling the decision making process
- Being there for the group, with full attention and care
« A facilitator makes things easier for the group by smoothing the path so the group can work together better. The facilitator focuses on effective processes (meeting dynamics) allowing participants to focus on the content of their work together. »
What can I expect from the first contact meeting ?
When a client request is received, it is treated by one of Stanwick partners. In order to get a thorough understanding of the request, Stanwick will make an appointment for a first explorative interview, without further obligations. During this intake the problem the client is experiencing will be clarified and possible hypothetical reasons will be explored. During this intake, the possible areas of expertise where Stanwick could deliver solutions are discussed.
Based on the intake report, one of the Stanwick partners will engage one or more consultants. This could be civil engineers, economists or psychologists, depending of the nature and complexity of the problem. The progress of the consulting project will be monitored by the Stanwick partner, who takes up the role of “account manager”.
What characterizes Stanwick as a consulting company is the fact that our consultants “go to gemba” or “go to the work floor: the place where the problem occurs”. This allows the consultants to do an immediate assessment of the “as is” situation and make an estimation of the improvement potential. This enables the consultants to put information gathered during the intake into a broader perspective.
A consulting track begins with a question and is closed with an evaluation discussion. The duration of a project depends on the nature of the question and this can vary enormously. Sometimes a Stanwick consultant is mobilized for an “ad hoc” intervention, such as a specific data-analysis problem (master black belt) or a team workshop facilitation. For more complex problems, a more extensive planning has to be made and more time has to be foreseen. Often the cooperation results in a true partnership, where the client and Stanwick increase the 'overall performance' of the organization.

Is consultancy and professional advice expensive?
Based on the intake, the nature and complexity of an assignment and the action plan becomes clear. Depending on the complexity and the duration of the consulting-project, a daily fee and an estimated amount of man-days will be determined. Our daily fees are competitive with the market. It is possible to draw up a contract in which the client and Stanwick engage in a long-term partnership, resulting in volume discounts.
We are convinced that for most consulting assignments, it makes sense to work with the formula of “directed work” (time and material contract). This means that fees will be charged at rate of the performance delivered, expressed in half or whole working days. The client does not sign a “blank cheque”, but instead he determines which activities have to be performed. As such, all costs stay transparent.
In mutual discussion there can be agreement on the following elements:
- Result oriented engagements
- Right to stop an assignment
- Changing the content of an assignment
- Payment conditions
- Intellectual property
