What is Teamwork?
Teamwork has attracted a lot of attention within organizations during recent years. More and more companies are investing in goal-oriented teams to reach company objectives. Companies now realize that a team is more than the sum of the individual employees. Teams can be found everywhere in organizations: the executive boards, management teams, project teams, production teams and problem solving teams.
How does Stanwick support your organization in the implementation of Teamwork?
Stanwick facilitates the team development process using the following steps:
1. Assessment
The characteristics of the team, its individual members and the larger organizational context are mapped based on information gathered during in-depth interviews. The effectiveness of the existing team is evaluated through an additional questionnaire. The outcome of this team analysis is an integrated view of its strengths and areas for development.
2. Start of the Team Development Process
During a (residential) team workshop, the team analysis is shared and studied in detail. The goals, roles, mutual expectations of the team are all clarified.
3. Development requires time, repetition and continuous feedback. Hence we strongly recommend that companies invest time in follow-up activities, individual coaching, team coaching and progression analysis.
Our approach is based on the Team Effectiveness model of FRY which consists of the following 4 steps:
- Effective teams need clear objectives. Thus, the roles within the team are clarified and team members are invited to share their mutual expectations with each other.
- The team draws up procedural agreements on how team members handle decision making, problem solving, reporting, leadership and communication.
- Finally, to build strong relationships, the team needs openness, trust and constructive mechanisms such as active listening and giving feedback. This will enable continuous evaluation and improvement of team performances.
