Six Sigma
What is Six Sigma?
Six Sigma is a management approach which uses a structured methodology in order to significantly reduce variation and defects in business processes. Applying Six Sigma practice results in more streamlined processes guaranteeing higher quality and less variation. In turn, the customer receives increased value at a lower cost, higher level of quality and reduced delivery times.
A key element in the successful implementation of Six Sigma is to tailor the methodology to the specific needs and characteristics of your business. Some businesses choose to use Six Sigma as a problem solving methodology to tackle carefully selected problems. Other companies choose to implement Six Sigma as a general culture. Either way, the success of an implementation depends on a number of factors including the commitment and conviction of top management, the selection of challenging and rewarding projects and the presence of subject matter experts with the necessary technical expertise. In our Six Sigma approach we frequently use the following tools: voice of the customer, basic statistics, control charts, failure mode and effect analysis, hypothesis testing (t-test, ANOVA, regression, etc.), design of experiments and measurement system analysis.
The Six Sigma approach, combined with user-friendly statistical software, provides a powerful means to achieve both tangible and intangible breakthrough results. A typical Six Sigma Green Belt project results in annual savings of about 20-50 K€, a Six Sigma Black Belt project can return savings of up to 50-300K€. These projects are performed in a timeframe from 3 months to 1 year, depending on the complexity of the problem.
